Project Fierce Chicago to Host 2nd Annual Breakfast N Beds Fundraiser
Project Fierce Chicago (PFC), a grassroots nonprofit organization committed to reducing homelessness among LGBTQ youth, will be hosting their 2nd Annual Breakfast N Beds fundraiser on November 8, 2015, from 12:00pm-4:00pm at the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center on 4046 West Armitage Avenue.
Founded in 2013 by social worker Cassandra Avenatti, PFC is a collective of social workers, housing advocates, and volunteers dedicated to reducing LGBTQ youth homelessness in Chicago. PFC’s plans for achieving this ambitious goal include providing transitional housing for 8-10 young people, on the West Side of the city. Youth will be provided with safe place to stabilize their lives and access to resources to help them achieve their goals for independent living, education, and employment. There is a huge gap in services for LGBTQ young people experiencing homelessness on the West Side of Chicago, and PFC’s housing and services will fill an important need.
Last year’s Breakfast N Beds fundraiser, with 120 guests, raised more than $8,000, which ultimately helped us secure our biggest victory this year, a home to provide housing to young people in North Lawndale! While raising awareness of the problem of LGBTQ youth homelessness in Chicago, this year’s fundraiser will also be a celebration of what PFC has achieved this year. In addition to the purchase of a home, PFC received a $25,000 grant from the Chicago Community Trust’s LGBT Community Fund, which will help us build capacity to provide needed services.
Come out and support PFC’s efforts to reduce LGBTQ youth homelessness at our 2nd Annual Breakfast N Beds fundraiser on November 8th! The fundraiser is an all-ages event that will include brunch, drinks, silent auction, raffle prizes, and performances that you don’t want to miss.
